This year's Christmas Hamper Day is on Tuesday, December 17.With the Thanksgiving holiday a little more than a week away the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry is asking for help as it prepares food baskets for needy families in the Lakes Region. Our mission revolves around servant leadership and leadership development of students which is accomplished through community service and learning opportunities. St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Indianapolis was a wonderful place for our students to volunteer because everyone was so hospitable and welcoming to our help.St. Vincent de Paul SVDP packs and delivers food hampers every Wednesday to those in need in the community. They are always looking for more volunteers to help, especially at Christmas time. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul depends on the time and passion of its many, many volunteers. Volunteer tasks range from packing and delivering emergency food hampers, to stocking food pantry shelves, gathering donations from schools and community agencies, or joining a team of Vincentians who visit people in their homes.Our annual St. Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal produced the usual wonderful contributions from our families, as they donated non-perishable food items which were then arranged into hampers for distribution among the needy families of our parish. A big thank you to our families who brought in the items for the hampers.
